Abstract
The Interactive Portal for Secure Book Trading is a Java-based web application designed to facilitate the buying and selling of books online. This platform serves as a virtual bookstore, enabling users to browse a wide range of books, purchase them, or upload their own books for resale. With the convenience of an online marketplace, users can select multiple books, which are stored in their shopping cart for easy checkout. During checkout, users are prompted to provide essential details such as billing and shipping addresses, shipping options, and a payment method (including cash on delivery or online payments). To enhance the security and efficiency of the transaction process, the portal incorporates the Hashing Algorithm for secure password storage and verification.
Existing System
- The existing systems for online book trading primarily rely on basic e-commerce functionalities where users can browse catalogs, purchase books, and engage in simple transactions.
- However, these systems typically lack advanced security features, such as robust user authentication and data protection, which are critical in protecting sensitive information during online transactions.
- Moreover, the process of reselling books often lacks a streamlined interface, creating obstacles for sellers who want to list their books efficiently. Payment processing is generally limited to basic methods, and there may be limited options for secure transactions.
- These limitations compromise user trust, especially when it comes to handling personal and financial information.
Proposed System
- The Interactive Portal for Secure Book Trading aims to address these issues by providing a more secure and feature-rich platform for buying and selling books online. The proposed system will leverage SpringBoot to create a dynamic and responsive portal that facilitates secure and efficient transactions.
- Key features include a user-friendly interface for browsing, buying, and selling books, along with enhanced security protocols to protect users’ personal and payment information.
- To address security concerns, the proposed system integrates the Hashing Algorithm for securely storing user passwords. The system uses bcrypt or a similar hashing technique to ensure that passwords are encrypted before being stored in the database.
- This ensures that even if the database is compromised, user credentials remain secure.
